1. Data Controller

The development of this application was coordinated by the NGO iLanguage in Vienna, Austria, and developed by Kod48.

2. Data We Collect

We collect minimal personal data necessary for service provision:

  • Email Address & Account Data: Collected via Firebase Authentication during sign-in (e.g., email or Google account).

  • Chat History: Stored securely in cloud database (Firebase Firestore) and accessible only to you when authenticated.

3. Third-Party Services

a) OpenAI API

  • Your chat inputs are sent to OpenAI to generate responses.

  • Data Sharing: Inputs may include personal data; we advise users not to share sensitive information.

  • OpenAI’s Role: With our business API, OpenAI does not train models on your data.

  • Data Transfer: Data may be processed on servers outside the EEA (e.g., USA).

b) Google Firebase & Analytics

  • Authentication & Database: Firebase handles account creation and chat storage.

  • Analytics & Crash Reporting: Google Analytics (anonymous usage) and Crashlytics (technical errors) are used for app improvement.

4. How We Use Your Data

  • Service Provision: Enable logins, chat history, and core features.

  • App Improvement: Analyze aggregated, anonymous usage data.

5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

  • Contractual necessity: for account creation and login

  • Legitimate interests: for analytics, crash reporting, and app improvement

  • Consent: if required in specific future features

6. Data Security

Industry-standard encryption (Firebase) for data in transit and at rest.

7. Data Retention and Account Deletion

We provide multiple ways for you to manage and delete your data:

  • In-App Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the app. Navigate to Settings > Your Account and select Delete Account. After confirming, your account and all stored chat history will be permanently erased.

  • Web Deletion Request: If you cannot access the app, you can follow the detailed instructions or submit a request via our dedicated deletion page: https://ilanguage.live/delete-your-account

  • Email Request: You may also request account deletion by contacting us at kodkirksekiz@gmail.com. We will process your request within 30 days.

  • Data Erasure: Once the account is deleted, the action is irreversible, and your data cannot be recovered.

  • Inactive Accounts: Data from accounts that have been inactive for more than 12 months will be automatically deleted.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

  • Access, rectify, or delete your data.

  • Account Deletion: Permanently remove your account/data via app settings.

  • Inactive Accounts: Data from accounts inactive for 12+ months will be automatically deleted.

9. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16 without verified parental consent. If discovered, data will be promptly removed.

10. International Data Transfers

Data shared with OpenAI/Google may be transferred outside the EEA under safeguards (e.g., EU-US Data Privacy Framework).
